Class: Physical Science
Unit: Wave Behavior
Topic: Interference

Instructional Objectives:
Students will be able to define and identify constructive and destructive interference.

Materials Needed:
Scaffolded notes
Study guide

Introduction:
5 min: I will start with a demo where I play a song with the speakers the proper distance apart and an improper distance apart, if possible I will try to figure out the worst possible distance apart. While I take attendance students will work on answering yesterday’s take home question, “why is having your speakers a specific distance apart important for sound quality.” We will do another TPS with this question.

Activities & Assignments:
15 min: I will do some quick instruction on constructive and destructive interference, including some info on beat frequencies. There are some good clips that make interference very initiative, as well as references to musical instruments and music theory that students may be interested in.
25-30min: I will then distribute a study guide students can work on in groups in preparation for the Test which would be tomorrow. The sheet will be strait forward and they should have no trouble completing it with the scaffolded notes I have been preparing for them. I will circulate the room to help when needed and try to figure out if there is one concept a large portion of the class is having trouble with. If so I will use some time now to clarify for everyone.

Closure:
5-10 min: I will ask students if they have any questions they would like answered before they go.
